This is a full day trip leaving Yellowknife first thing in the morning with Arctic Sound on the Arctic Ocean as our destination.  After two hours of flight time we will be within the Territory of Nunavut. We will land on the Burnside River to refuel, and stretch our legs then continue North following the Burnside River and keeping watch for Caribou and Muskox. Within minutes of being airborne we will cross the Arctic Circle leaving the sub-arctic region for the true arctic.

We will break free from the Burnside and follow the Booth River to the Hood River so that we can fly over the Wilberforce hills where you will get the opportunity to see the Wilberforce Falls, the highest falls north of the Arctic Circle. We will land at Arctic Sound, giving you the opportunity to dip your toes in the ocean, cast for an Arctic Char at the outlet of the famous Hood River and enjoy a shore lunch. You might get lucky and even see a few seals too.

On our return flight we will stop in at the Burnside River to refuel one more time. On the homeward leg if you would like to make another stop to stretch your legs just ask your pilot. You will be flying over countless lakes, many unnamed, many with eskers and areas of sand that a floatplane can easily be beached on and you can get out and stretch you legs if need be or just land and try a few casts from the float of the plane.

Fishing equipment is available as a guest convenience for those without gear and is to be used by guests in self-guided manner as we do not offer fish guiding services nor are we registered as fishing guides within the Northwest Territories (NWT) or Nunavut Territory (NU). Fishing in the NWT and NU both require an individual fishing licence. This tour must be booked 3-4 days in advance to arrange NU fishing licences for guests that wish to fish in Nunavut.  NWT licences may be arranged the day before.

As with our other tours you will get to experience flight on one of our iconic de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver Aircraft not only providing you with a raven's eye view of region but also providing you with the experience of taking a step back in time and enjoying a flight onboard a classic aircraft.  Our Beaver aircraft feature comfortable interiors, enlarged windows for easy viewing and aviation headsets for all guests to provide easy communication between guests and the pilot.  Each guest is will be seated at a window seat.

Our pilots are very proud of their aircraft, their profession and the region they fly throughout.  We encourage our guests to ask as many questions as they wish throughout each tour.  Our pilots will be more than happy to answer all of your questions about their craft and the region they call home.
