This flightseeing tour is the most popular of packaged
tours as it provides the curious a short introduction to floatplanes onboard
one of our iconic DHC-2 “Beaver” aircraft while taking in excellent views or
Yellowknife’s Old Town and surrounding landscapes.
The tour departs from our floatbase at Wiley’s Wharf on Back Bay in Old Town Yellowknife and heads north past the former Giant
Gold Mine, up the Yellowknife River past Tartan Rapids to our turning point at
Bluefish Lake where we turn back south down Prosperous Lake, following the East
shore of Yellowknife Bay to the community of Dettah. From Dettah we return to Yellowknife and
provide views of Yellowknife’s downtown, Houseboat Bay and Back Bay before
landing.
This tour depending on loading and positioning
(taxi) times takes approximately 35 minutes and includes 25 of air time
covering off over 68 kms (42) miles. You
should plan to arrive 20 minutes or more before your booked flight time and
from start to finish plan 1 hour for the whole activity.
