Slave Lake North Arm Shore Crawl
This flightseeing tour is longer than our base
tour and in the second tier of tour offerings.
Come with us as we engage on a “shore crawl”
following the western shore of Yellowknife Bay, south past the former Con Gold Mine,
Kam Point, and Negus Point flying over the Northern shore of the North Arm of
Great Slave Lake’s island archipelago. This is a popular area for the
recreation of Yellowknifers keep an eye out below for tent frames, campers, and
fisherman going after trophy sized pike.
On a clear day you can see across the North Arm to White Beach Point on
the south shore; this is a common point for the lake crossings of boats and
aircraft heading to Fort Providence or Hay River as it is the shortest gap. Our turning point for this tour is further
down the shore at Enodah’s Trout Rock Lodge.
From this point you are 25 km (15 miles) back from the Yellowknife
Airport. If you like scavenger hunts
keep your eyes peeled for a heart shaped lake amongst the wetlands for the next
16 kms (10 miles). You will be crossing
through the flight paths of the Yellowknife Airport on your way back to, Back
Bay and the Air Traffic Controllers will take over the last portion of your
tour providing direction to your pilot on how to cross over the city providing
several possibilities for your final routing before landing.
This tour depending on loading and positioning
(taxi) times takes approximately 42 minutes and includes 32 of air time
covering off over 86 kms (53) miles. You
should plan to arrive 20 minutes or more before your booked flight time and
from start to finish plan 1 hour 10 min. for the whole activity.
All flightseeing tours are operated using our
classic DHC-2 Beaver aircraft and are sold and priced as private charters with
seating for between one to five (1-5) passengers at a time.
