Yellowknife River
This flightseeing tour is an extension or our
Yellowknife Area and Blue Fish Dam tour.
The tour departs from our floatbase at Wiley’s
Wharf on Back Bay in Old Town Yellowknife and heads north past the former Giant
Gold Mine, up the Yellowknife River past Tartan Rapids, the Blue Fish Dam, our Picnic
Site at the Quyta Lake Outflow and rapids, continuing up through Quyta Lake
past the rapids at either end of Sito Lake and the new MON Gold Mine project,
to our turning point at the south end of Clan Lake. Keep an eye open for wildlife as moose pasture prime
Once southbound we head for the the community
of Dettah. From Dettah we return to
Yellowknife and provide views of Yellowknife’s downtown, Houseboat Bay and Back
Bay before landing. This tour depending on loading and positioning (taxi) times
takes approximately 52 minutes and includes 42 of air time covering off over 115
kms (71) miles. You should plan to
arrive 20 minutes or more before your booked flight time and from start to
finish plan 1 hour 20 min. for the whole activity.
All flightseeing tours are operated using our
classic DHC-2 Beaver aircraft and are sold and priced as private charters with
seating for between one to five (1-5) passengers at a time.
