Exploring
& fishing Great Slave Lake doesn't get any
better than this!  The trip is setup for
four guests so this is your chance to impress and treat three friends or family
to join you for a fishing trip they won't soon forget.

Great Slave Lake lies south of the treeline in
the transitional space between woodlands and tundra.  It is the tenth largest freshwater lake in
the world covering an area of 27,200 km2 (10,502 sm2), the fifth
largest lake in North America and it also ranks as the deepest lake in North
America with recorded depths of 614 metres (2,014 ft).  Great Slave Lake has many tributaries the
primary ones being the Hay, Slave and Taltson Rivers.
The lake is drained by the mighty Mackenzie River.

The
lake has three distinctive regions; “the Basin”, “the North Arm” and “the East
Arm”.   Each region has it’s own unique fish
populations and geological features but the East Arm is the most visited region
of the lake.  This remote paradise
attracts boaters, fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world –
make a visit and you will see why.

The
East Arm is a world class geological wonder featuring an abundance of islands,
narrow channels and spectacular red cliff drops.  Some cliffs are as high as 180 metres (590
ft) off the water and plunge several hundred metres into subterranean
cannons.  The scenery is primeval.

As
you will be travelling by floatplane, fishing method will be primarily bank and
rock angling from rock ledges and outcrops.
In the East Arm the clean, cold waters keep fish near the surface in the
summer and outcrops provide you access to deeper water.  Some of the smaller bays will lend themselves
to “fishing from the float” in the shallows and if you wish we can visit some
of the smaller tributaries on the north shore of the East Arm where you can
walk and wade if you have waders.

Your
adventure starts by sitting down with your pilot the day before your trip to
review the various land marks, anchorages and features of Great
Slave Lake by map.  This is
a self-guided fishing trip and private aircraft charter so you get to discuss
with your pilot your objectives for the day and direct where you would like to
go on the lake; the places you would like to see, and the areas you would like
to fish.  This is also your chance to discuss
what gear you would like to bring, the gear we have available for your use, and
to select your lunch from our meal options

Our
classic DHC-2 Beaver Floatplane will become your private limousine for the day.  You will have access to the plane and your
pilot for ten hours.  Your pilot has the
ability to take you to a countless number of beautiful locations around the
lake that you may fish from, hike around, or simply stop to enjoy the view.  If you see something from the air mid trip that
you would like to stop and investigate further or simply wish to get out and
stretch your legs; let your pilot know. As long as it is safe to do so your
pilot will land and beach the aircraft where you direct; you may have just
found yourself the perfect fishing hole.

Our
Beaver aircraft feature comfortable interiors, enlarged windows for easy
viewing and aviation headsets for all guests to provide easy communication
between guests and the pilot throughout each flight.    Each
guest will have ample room and their own window seat. Our pilots are very proud
of their aircraft, their profession and the region they fly throughout.  We encourage our guests to ask as many
questions as they wish throughout each flight.
Our pilots will be more than happy to answer all of your questions about
their craft and the region they call home.

Included
with your private charter is a selection of non-alcoholic beverages, snacks,
and lunch for the day.  We will also
supply all of the camp equipment and toiletries suitable and required for the
day.  Camp equipment will include items
for you to prepare a fresh fish fry if you wish. If you are travelling without
fishing gear we would be more than happy to supply you with appropriate fishing
rod, reel and tackle for each guest.
Guests should bring fishing licenses, camera, appropriate clothing for
the day, rain/wind jacket, suitable foot wear, Sun Tan Lotion, hat, insect
