This flightseeing tour is longer than our base
tour focusing on the Ingraham Trail between Yellowknife and Cameron Falls,
overflying what could be considered as Yellowknife’s cottage country.
The tour departs from our floatbase at Wiley’s
Wharf on Back Bay in Old Town Yellowknife and heads north to the Yellowknife
River Bridge setting course for Cassidy Point on Prosperous Lake, you will pass
by the Aurora Village Tourism Centre and the small off-grid neigbourhood on
Cassidy Point before proceeding on to Prelude Lake past the various cottages
and camps on the shores of Prelude Lake along with the Prelude Lake Territorial
Park. You will continue east to the
inflow of the Cameron River before passing overhead the Cameron Falls moments
later. Cameron Falls is the turning
point of this tour and the tour will then head back westerly over back country
to the community of Dettah before returning to land in Yellowknife’s Back
Bay. Cameron Falls is a prominent day
hike location off the Ingraham Trail, the trail head is a 45 minute drive; the
hike takes 30-40 minutes. The falls are
themselves are 17 meters (56 feet) high.
This tour depending on loading and positioning
(taxi) times takes approximately 42 minutes and includes 32 of air time
covering off over 86 kms (53) miles. You
should plan to arrive 20 minutes or more before your booked flight time and
from start to finish plan 1 hour 10 min. for the whole activity.
